EV in the RV

So, apparently, electric recreational vehicles are becoming a "thing", or so it seems. I must admit some skepticism when several of them (or at least one or two that I could take semi-seriously) showed up in the new Rolling Homes.

Maxwell Vehicles of Los Angeles has been transplanting Tesla drive train systems into RAM vans for a while now, creating all-electric work, service and refrigerated vans that appear to be working very well for the buyers. Now they have partnered with NOOK Vans to create a very capable and attractive fully electric camper van based on Maxwell's Vanacea platform. Hot water, cooking and cabin heating are all supplied by the van's 75kWh traction battery pack, which can be recharged in as little as 30 minutes.

Of great interest to DIY housetruck builders, in addition to offering completed vans, an electric drive-converted cab and chassis can be purchased, or they offer conversion services to convert your RAM ProMaster van from internal combustion to electric drive. Just the thing if you've already built a cozy home on this platform, and don't want to have to move out to go electric.

In any case, this will bear watching, as it's possible that EV RV's are in the near future.

Maxwell Vehicles will be exhibiting their wares at the SEMA Show in Las Veagas, Nevada November 1-4, 2022.
