Blastolene Boyz 3
Well, the Decoliner project is continuing to move forward, apparently under it's own power now:
And speaking of power, I can't help but wonder what the powerplant in this silver slug is. Grubb and Leeds have a reputation for "nothing leaves stock", so I'd expect that something a bit more impressive than the original V8 GMC gasoline engine has been fitted. I guess we'll have to wait for some more information on that.
I do notice that the new creation is registered and licensed in Oregon as a motor home. There's no point in bothering those nice folks down at the DMV with little details when you already have a VIN and title that (might be) is correct for the finished product, right? Of course, to qualify as a motorhome, there must be kitchen appliances, a toilet, and sleeping facilities permanently installed in the coach, so maybe that gives us some insights into future construction details???
Interesting to see that this design has "wings" (see the painted-on designs above, and the instrument cluster on the cab photos on the Blastolene site). I once sent Mike Leeds some photographs and design drawings of my Crown Coach project, and the sketches he sent back of his off-the-top-of-his-head ideas included these art-deco wing designs.
